Survey Alert: What Health Issues are the Highest Research Priorities for Women Living with MS?

August 29, 2023

Recent research pinpointed significant knowledge gaps in the extent to which women’s health issues have been studied in persons with MS. These gaps may leave women with MS and their physicians without the solid evidence needed to help with care decisions. (Read more about these findings.)

Now, a Women’s Health working group of the International Advisory Committee on Clinical Trials in MS is conducting a survey to find out from people with MS, healthcare providers, researchers and patient advocacy groups what are the higher priorities for research on women’s health in MS. Please see information below, in English, Spanish, and French.

Who is conducting the study?  The International Advisory Committee on Clinical Trials in MS Women’s Health working group. The survey is being conducted on their behalf by Amber Salter, PhD at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

What is the purpose of the research? The purpose of the study is to survey a range of stakeholders, including people living with MS, health care providers, researchers and patient advocacy groups, to gain further insight into the most important questions in six broad areas for future research on women’s health in MS. The International Advisory Committee on Clinical Trials in Multiple Sclerosis is jointly supported by the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) and the US National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

What are the Research Procedures? If you agree to participate, we would like you to complete the anonymous survey about the questions you consider important for future research on Women’s Health in MS. It is expected that the questionnaire will take 5 minutes to complete.
