Multiple sclerosis is a disease with a poorly understood diversity of outcomes. Research suggests that having more than one chronic health condition (known as comorbidity) may explain this diversity. Reducing risk factors for comorbid conditions will not cure MS, but will certainly improve overall health and quality of life.
In many of these comorbid conditions, obesity is a common risk factor with significant ramifications. However, it is also a "modifiable risk factor," meaning YOU can change, control, and manage your weight. What you eat and how you move impacts your health and your MS!
In "Weight Management and Nutrition." we will:
• Define obesity as a modifiable risk factor for numerous chronic health conditions (comorbidities)
• Outline the risks associated with obesity and MS
• Outline specific strategies to manage your weight with nutrition and exercise (change is always difficult!)
• Answer your questions on weight management and nutrition!
