More than half of people with MS experience cognitive changes, particularly effects on information processing, memory, attention, executive functions, visual perception, and verbal skills. In addition to having a significant impact on a person’s self-identity and confidence, these changes can impair a person’s ability to work, manage daily activities, and communicate with loved ones.

Although physicians noted these common MS symptoms more than 160 years ago, they have not received adequate attention until relatively recently. New studies are providing revelatory insights into the causes and treatment of cognitive symptoms, while rehabilitation specialists are providing empowering approaches for managing and adjusting to these changes. Join Dr. Abbey Hughes and Pamela Miller for a comprehensive look at cognitive research and strategies.
