This is an oral medication in capsule form.
Description
Bafiertam is an oral therapy taken two times per day. Bafiertam is similar to Tecfidera
® and Vumerity
® but has a distinct chemical structure. Although their exact mechanisms of action are not known, fumarate therapies are thought to modulate the immune response underlying MS to be less inflammatory, and may have antioxidant properties that could be protective against damage to the brain and spinal cord.
Bafiertam was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS), to include clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting disease, and active secondary progressive disease, in adults.
